How much do your events cost?
All of our public engagement events are free to attend.
Do I need to register to attend? How do I register?
Yes, for all our events, you need to register. If you are struggling to register, please email [email protected].
I have registered for an event. What’s next?
Check your emails to ensure the booking confirmation arrives. Please check your Junk/Spam folders.
For online events, the booking confirmation email will have all the details on how to join your event.
For in-person events, please remember to bring a copy of your ticket to show to RSE staff upon arrival. Alternatively, we will have a list of attendees for all in-person events.
If you accidentally delete or do not receive your booking confirmation, please email the Public Engagement Team, [email protected], and they will be able to help.
I’ve booked a ticket, but I can no longer attend. How do I cancel?
There will be instructions in your confirmation email about how to cancel your booking, or you can email [email protected]. Please do cancel if you can no longer attend your event, as some events have limited spaces and waiting lists.
The event is fully booked, how can I get a place?
If an event is fully booked, we will be operating a waiting list system that will automatically let you know if a space becomes available.
What time should I join?
The online events should start at the time advertised. We recommend joining a few minutes before to ensure your internet connection is working and so that you can make yourself comfortable before the event begins!
For in-person events, please arrive shortly before the event is due to start and you will be directed to take a seat.
How do you store my data?
The RSE’s privacy policy delineates the types of personal information that the RSE is likely to collect, the ways in which we collect and process personal information and the rights of data subjects as outlined by the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, 2018).
Recording events/watch on demand
Most events are available to watch on-demand on the RSE website under resources as soon as possible after the event.
Use of photography and videography
By attending an RSE event, ticket holders consent to being filmed, photographed and recorded as members of the audience. The resulting film footage, images and recordings may be used to promote the Royal Society of Edinburgh and its activities in print, in the media and online. The Royal Society of Edinburgh will endeavour to inform attendees prior to the commencement of the event if filming is to take place. If you do not wish to be filmed, photographed and recorded please notify a member of staff on arrival at the event.
Age restrictions
Under 16’s should be accompanied by an adult. We reserve the right to refuse admission to an unaccompanied child.
Evaluation
After each event, we ask for feedback. The RSE monitors how effective we are at achieving our mission of ‘knowledge made useful’ and reaching the diverse population of Scotland and beyond. By completing the evaluation, you will help us improve our reach and to create relevant events and activities in the future. All responses will be anonymised.
