Six short films, featuring users and facilitators of people-centred community support and services, have been premiered as part of the RSE Post-Covid-19 Futures Commission’s Inclusive Public Service work strand.
The Commission appointed filmmaker, Ellie Hutchinson, to create films that explore active citizenship in practice. She has spent the last few months making films with users and facilitators of people-centred community support and services, gaining insights into the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, and how people have created and used support to help them through. The films are part of the working group’s wider work to identify projects and structures which promote and enable self-directed care and community support.
Ellie and the Commission worked alongside six organisations; Distress Brief Intervention (DBI), ENABLE Scotland, Glasgow Life Community Activation Pilot, Paths for All, Scottish Ballet and Trojan Theatre to identify people using their services and tell their stories. The films explore what it means to have services meet individual needs and what it means to have needs met in ways tailored to the individual.
