Professor Wenfei Fan is one of the leading all-round data researchers working today and has made substantial contributions both to the theory and to the practice of the subject. His research interests include database theory and systems, data quality, distributed computation, social networks, Web services and XML. After gaining his BS and MS in Computer Science at Pecking University, China, Wenfei moved to the University of Pennsylvania, USA to complete his PhD. He remained in the USA until 2004 when he joined the University of Edinburgh as Reader. Since 2006 Wenfei has been Professor of Web Data Management.
