Professor Stephen John Wigmore FRSE

Professor of Transplantation Surgery and Honorary Consultant Surgeon, University of Edinburgh.

Professor Stephen Wigmore specialises in organ transplantation and liver, pancreas and biliary cancer surgery. Between 1999 and 2001, Stephen and his team produced a new technique using 3D-volume reconstruction of the liver to explain the relationship between liver volume and function and improve the safety of liver surgery. Over the next decade they simplified the technology which is accessible globally. Stephen is Surgeon to HM The Queen in Scotland, President of the British Transplantation Society and Editor-in-Chief of HPB, the official journal of the International Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Associate (IHPBA).
