Ian Rankin is a Scottish crime writer who explores contemporary Scottish society through his work. He has published 25 novels, including the Inspector Rebus series which has been translated into 26 languages. He has also written for radio, stage and film. In 2002 Ian presented a TV documentary series on the nature of evil and was also the subject of a BBC TV documentary about how novelists work. He regularly appears on TV and radio as a cultural critic.
