Professor Samuel Kline Cohn FRSE

Professor of Medieval History, University of Glasgow.

Professor Samuel Cohn is a Professor of Medieval History at the University of Glasgow. Over the past fifteen years he has specialised in the history of popular unrest in late medieval and early modern Europe and in the history of disease and medicine. He has published over 10 books on labour history, popular insurrection, women in the Renaissance, religious piety, violence, ritual, and medical history and plague from the Black Death to the nineteenth century. Samuel is currently investigating collective reactions to epidemics from Antiquity to the present, why some of them aroused hatred and blame, while others brought communities together.
