Professor Vicki Hanson

Professor Vicki Hanson is a computer scientist committed to the inclusion of older adults and disabled people participating in computing. After joining the Salk Institute for Biological Studies as a Postdoctoral Fellow, she moved to the IBM Research Division in 1986 where she founded and managed the Accessibility Research group. Vicki has been at the University of Dundee since 2009 and is currently President of ACM (the Association for Computing Machinery), the largest professional society for computing, globally serving computing professionals and students. She is a Fellow of the British Computer Society, holds a Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award and in 2013 received the Anita Borg Institute’s Woman of Vision Award for Social Impact.
