Professor Vernon Gayle

Professor Vernon Gayle holds a chair in Sociology and Social Statistics at the University of Edinburgh. His research focuses on social inequalities, education and children and young people. He has also studied migration, subjective well being, fertility, digital social research and sport. His work involves the detailed empirical analysis of large-scale and complex social science datasets using statistical techniques. He is a specialist in statistical modelling, longitudinal data analysis and methods for missing data. More recently, he has spearheaded the development of techniques and tools for undertaking transparent and reproducible research, and open science.
