Professor Susan Welburn

Professor Susan Welburn is a molecular epidemiologist with over 20 years’ experience working on human sleeping sickness, zoonotic trypanosomiasis, rabies and other neglected zoonotic diseases in human, domestic and wild animal populations across Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia. Susan is strongly committed to capacity strengthening and realising the impact of research in the Developing World. She was founding Director of the Global Health Academy at the University of Edinburgh, which provides a framework for collaborative, interdisciplinary research, postgraduate training, educational activities and resources that contribute to strengthening the global health resource base.
