Professor Stuart Parkin
Director, Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics
Professor Stuart Parkin is an experimental physicist who has made pioneering contributions to the science and technological applications of spintronic materials for field sensing, magnetic memory and data storage devices. His research in magneto-resistive thin film structures enabled a dramatic increase in the storage capacity of magnetic disk drives for which he was awarded the Millennium Technology Awards from the Technology Academy Finland in 2014. Since 2014 he has been Director of the Max Planck Institute of Microstructure Physics, Germany.
