Professor Sarah Curtis is Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh (collaborating with the world-leading Centre for Research on Environment, Society and Health) and Professor Emerita at Durham University. Sarah is an internationally recognised expert in geographies of health and healthcare. During her academic career, she has published extensively on ways that social, material and symbolic aspects of places relate to our mental and physical health and wellbeing. This research informs policies designed to tackle challenges for health and healthcare arising from socio-economic inequality, extreme weather events and economic recession. Sarah advises governmental bodies in the UK and abroad.
