Professor Petra Wend is a linguist by background but has also researched and published on institutional strategies, leadership and management. In July 2019 she retired from her position as Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Queen Margaret University after a decade in the role. Prior to this she was Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) and Deputy Chief Executive at Oxford Brookes University and held a number of academic and leadership roles at London universities. She originally read Italian and French Language and Literature, and Education at the University of Münster (Germany) and gained a PhD (Italian Language and Literature) at Leeds University. Petra is Chair, Vice-Convener, Director and Trustee of a number of national and international boards.
