Professor Peter Hopkins
Professor of Social Geography, Newcastle University
Peter Hopkins is Professor of Social Geography at Newcastle University with an international reputational for research about the intersections of race, religion, youth, and gender with much of this work focusing upon Scotland. He is author or editor of 12 books and over 100 journal articles and book chapters. He helped establish the first Cross Party Group on Tackling Islamophobia in the Scottish Parliament in 2018 and led the inquiry into Islamophobia conducted through this group. Elected a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (FAcSS) in 2018, he received the Royal Scottish Geographical Society’s President’s Medal in 2012.
