Professor Paul Hoskisson is The Royal Academy of Engineering Research Chair in Engineering biology of Antibiotic Production at the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Strathclyde. He has studied the antibiotic-producing bacterium Streptomyces since his PhD at Liverpool John Moores University, followed by post-doctoral research at the John Innes Centre and University of Aberdeen. In 2007, Paul moved to the University of Strathclyde to start his independent research group and was appointed Professor of Molecular Microbiology in 2018. Paul’s current research is focussed on how and why bacteria produce antibiotics. Paul collaborates widely with industry and has a strong interest in public engagement with science.
