Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer

Associate Principal (Global Sustainability)

Professor Mercedes Maroto-Valer joined Heriot-Watt University in 2013 after 4 years as Professor of Energy Technologies and Head of Energy and Sustainability Research Division Faculty of Engineering at the University of Nottingham. She leads a team of 20 researchers developing novel solutions to meet the worldwide strive for cost-effective and environmentally-friendly energy, with particular emphasis on clean energy technologies, including carbon dioxide capture, transport, storage and utilization. Mercedes has over 350 publications, including editor of 3 books and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers (FIChemE).
