Professor Lyndsay Fletcher
Professor of Astrophysics, University of Glasgow
Professor Lyndsay Fletcher is a solar physicist working on solar flares, the dramatic and (currently) unpredictable episodes of energy release in the Sun’s atmosphere. Using multi-wavelength imaging and spectroscopic observations from ground-based and space-based observatories, she studies magnetic field restructuring, energy transport, and energy dissipation in the lower solar atmosphere, constraining competing models of the plasma processes happening there. Lyndsay is currently Senior Secretary of the Royal Astronomical Society and Chair of International Astronomical Union Commission E2 on Solar Activity.
