Professor Louise Heathwaite

Professor Louise Heathwaite is a hydrochemist and Distinguished Professor in the Lancaster Environment Centre, Lancaster University. She was appointed Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise) in 2019. From 2012 to 2017, Louise was Chief Scientific Adviser to the Scottish Government on Rural Affairs, Food and the Environment and was awarded a CBE for services to scientific research and scientific advice to government in the 2018 Queen’s Birthday Honours. Her expertise is in nutrient biogeochemistry with applied interests in diffuse agricultural pollution and is particularly interested in the use of science in policy making.
