Professor Kevin Ryan
Professor of Molecular Cell Biology, Beatson Institute for Cancer Research
Professor Kevin Ryan graduated with a BSc at the University of Liverpool and a subsequent PhD at the University of Glasgow in 1996. Following work at the US National Cancer Institute, he established an independent research group at The Beatson Institute for Cancer Research. In 2007, he became Senior Group Leader and was appointed Professor of Molecular Cell Biology at the University of Glasgow. Kevin is an internationally-recognized expert on cell death in cancer with emphasis on how apoptotic and autophagic pathways determine cell fate. He was awarded the 2010 European Association for Cancer Research ‘Cancer Researcher Award’ and the 2012 Tenovus Medal. He is also a Fellow of the European Academy of Cancer Sciences and a Member of Academia Europaea.
