Professor James Garden

Professor James Garden is Professor Emeritus and Dean International at the University of Edinburgh. He was previously Regius Professor of Clinical Surgery having trained in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Paris in hepatobiliary, pancreatic and liver transplantation surgery. He led significant clinical, academic and service developments in Scotland but now focuses in medical education with specific expertise in surgical online learning. He continues to use his experience and extensive international network to benefit Edinburgh philanthropically and has organised several congresses in the city. He is Chairman of Edinburgh World Heritage.
