Prof Jim Flett Wilson holds a personal chair in human genetics at the University of Edinburgh and is an MRC Investigator at the MRC Human Genetics Unit. His research spans the interface of population and disease genetics. He is the CI/PI of a number of large research cohort studies in his native Northern Isles (ORCADES, VIKING, NIMS, VIKING II) and in Scotland more broadly (Coronagenes), which have led to the discovery of over 1000 novel genetic associations to date. He also leads the international ROHgen consortium, investigating the effect of genomic homozygosity on complex traits. His ISI h-index is over 100.
