Fellowship

Building on research interests in plant, forest, and landscape ecology, Jaboury Ghazoul explores the ecological dynamics of tropical and temperate landscapes. He is interested in how ecological processes that are mediated through plant-animal interactions are affected by land management decisions, and how this in turn affects environmental outcomes at a variety of spatial scales. Working with land managers, farmers, conservation agencies, and policy makers in Scotland and elsewhere, he has been developing participatory models for evaluating alternative scenarios of change in complex socio-ecological landscapes. Jaboury is Professor of Ecosystem Management at ETH Zurich, Honorary Professor of Forest Ecology at the University of Edinburgh, and a NatureScot board member.
