Professor Ineke De Moortel
Professor in Applied Mathematics (Solar Physics), University of St Andrews
Professor Ineke De Moortel gained her PhD in Solar Theory at the University of St. Andrews in 2000 and became Professor in Applied Mathematics at the university in 2013. Her research focuses on the dynamical processes occurring in the Sun’s atmosphere, in particular coronal heating and coronal seismology. Her work investigates the behaviour and interaction of MHD waves and oscillations in 3D geometries, using observations, numerical simulations and analytical modelling. Ineke is also an affiliate scientist at the High Altitude Observatory (Boulder, US) and was Co-Chair of the Young Academy of Scotland from 2012-2014.
