Prior to retirement Professor Ian Wall was CEO of the EDI Group, a property development and investment company responsible for a wide range of commercial and residential projects across the central belt. He was Chair of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Education Committee (STEM) and its successor, SEEAG, advising the Scottish Government on all aspects of STEM education and producing two Reports. He serves currently on the Boards of the International Science Festival (of which he is the inventor), the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh (RBGE), the Newbattle Abbey Colllege Trust is a Patron of WASPS. Past appointments include Chair of the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) and the Scottish Poetry Library and Board Member of International Centre for Mathematical Sciences. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland.
