Professor Iain Gillespie

Professor Iain Gillespie is currently Principal & Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee. Previously he has been Pro Vice Chancellor, Research and Enterprise at the University of Leicester; Director of Science and Innovation at the Natural Environment Research Council, the UK’s leading funder for environmental science; and was lead director across the seven UK research councils for international research. Iain is a scientist by training with a PhD in Microbiology and holds an MA in International Relations and European Politics and an MBA with specialisms in knowledge management and innovation. He was educated at the Universities of Edinburgh, London and Kent at Canterbury, as well as the Open University in the UK.
