Professor Hugh McCann
Professor of Tomographic Imaging, University of Edinburgh
After spending 10 years in high-energy particle physics and another 10 in industry, Hugh McCann was at the University of Manchester for 17 years before joining the University of Edinburgh in 2013 as Head of the School of Engineering (until 2018) and Professor of Tomographic Imaging. His research is in Agile Tomography which exploits the concept that underlies medical scanning in order to interrogate engineering processes. He chaired the UK Professors & Heads of Electrical Engineering (2003 – 2005) and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2009.
