Professor Hervé Moulin joined the University of Glasgow in 2013, before which he was George A. Peterkin Professor of Economics at Rice University, USA. His research is in mathematical economics, focusing on game theory, social choice, mechanism design and fair division. Examples range from the design of voting rules, to the division of an estate, the scheduling of jobs in a queue, the assignment of tasks to workers, sharing the cost of a communication network and the exploitation of a “commons” such as airwaves or minerals on the moon. He has written 5 books and produced over 100 peer-reviewed articles.
