Professor Helen Hastie
Professor of Computer Science, Heriot-Watt University
Helen Hastie is a Professor of Human-Robot Interaction at the University of Edinburgh and Head of School of Informatics. As well as being a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, she recently held a Royal Academy of Engineering/Leverhulme Senior Research Fellowship. Her field of research is multimodal systems, human-robot interaction and trustworthy autonomous systems. Previously, she was at Heriot-Watt University, where she was academic co-lead for the National Robotarium and Director of the Centre for Doctoral Training in Robotics and Autonomous Systems. Previous research activity includes being PI for the UKRI Trustworthy Autonomous Systems Node on Trust and Co-ordinator of the EU project PARLANCE. She has over 120 publications and has held positions on many scientific committees and advisory boards.
