Professor David Batty
Professor of Epidemiology, University College London
David Batty is a Professor of Epidemiology at University College London (2017-), Visiting Professor at the Universities of Edinburgh and Glasgow (2009-), and a former Wellcome Trust Fellow (2004-12). An aetiological epidemiologist, the objective of his research is to understand how behavioural, psycho-social, and biological factors across the life course and between generations influence the risk of chronic disease and injury. The ultimate aim of his work is prevention. His research has resulted in 600+ peer-reviewed publications and, since 2017, according to Web of Science, he has been a Highly Cited Researcher. He is Deputy Editor of the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health (2010-), and mentor to early career researchers via national and international programmes.
