Professor Elaine Dzierzak
Professor of Haematological Regeneration, University of Edinburgh
Professor Elaine Dzierzak’s research focuses on the cellular and molecular interactions involved in the development of clinically-relevant haematopoietic stem cells (HSC). These adult stem cells, which are responsible for the life-long production of the blood system, are generated only during embryonic stages. As an advocate and role model for young biomedical research scientists, Elaine established a Master of Science Molecular Medicine Programme, founded the EMC Stem Cell Institute and is dedicated to the training of academic research scientists.
