Professor Douglas Gordon is one of the most highly regarded Scottish contemporary artists working today. His work is diverse, spanning video and film, sound, site-specific installations and printed media. He has exhibited internationally and his work is in the collections of the Tate Gallery, National Galleries of Scotland, Museum of Modern Art and the Guggenheim in New York and the National Gallery of Canada, plus museums in France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland. Gordon is the recipient of many awards, becoming the first video artist to win the Turner Prize in 1996, and in 2012 he was made a Commandeur of the French Ordre des Arts et Lettres, to name but a few. He has also served on the juries of the Venice and Rome Film Festivals.
