Professor Dino Jaroszynski
Professor of Laser Plasma Physics, University of Strathclyde
Professor Dino Jaroszynski is a plasma physicist. He founded SCAPA, the Scottish Centre for the Application of Plasma-based Accelerators, where he uses high-power lasers and plasma as compact radiation sources for applications of value to society. His contributions to science include pioneering advances in laser-plasma accelerators and compact particle-beam based radiation sources. Dino was born in Helsinki, grew up in South Africa and arrived in the UK in 1976 to complete his BSc. He comes from a family of artists; this inspired an interest in mediums of art as languages of science.
