Professor De-Zhu Li

Prof. De-Zhu Li is the Professor of Botany of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Kunming Institute of Botany and an Honorary Fellow of Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. He is the founder of China’s Germplasm Bank of Wild Species, the largest ex situ plant conservation facility in Asia. He leads the China Plant Barcode of Life Group, and pioneers the use of high-throughput DNA sequencing and morphological data for characterizing plant species diversity in China. He served as the Director of the CAS Kunming Institute of Botany (2005–2014) and as the President of the CAS Kunming Branch (2014-2019).
