Professor David Flynn

David Flynn is Professor of Cyber Physical Systems at the University of Glasgow, UK. Prof. Flynn’s research explores the challenges, opportunities, and underpinning technologies within Cyber Physical Systems. The vision of his group is to promote sustainability and create resilience in systems, organisations, networks, and societies.
His expertise includes systems engineering, digitalisation, artificial intelligence and data analysis and energy systems. This knowledge is applied to the analysis and design of solutions for complex adaptive systems, including applications in critical infrastructure, energy networks, medical technologies, and manufacturing.
He has published over 200 papers and is the recipient of several national and international awards for discovery and impact in research. Prof. Flynn is the Chair of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) Scotland, Associate Editor of IEEE Access and IET Robotics and Cyber Physical Systems, board member of the SP Energy Networks Independent Net Zero Advisory Council and an Engineering Policy Advisor to the UK and Scottish Government. Prof. Flynn is an Eminent Overseas Professor of Nagasaki University and Visiting Professor at Heriot-Watt University.
