Professor Christopher Chapman

Chris Chapman, PhD is Professor of Education Policy and Founding Director of the Robert Owen Centre for Educational Change, University of Glasgow and Visiting Professor, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile.
Since joining Glasgow in 2013 he has held the roles of Director of Research within the School of Education, Director of Policy Scotland across the College of Social Sciences and Senior Academic Advisor to the Learning Directorate, Scottish Government. Previously, he was Professor of Education, University of Manchester and held academic posts at the universities of Nottingham and Warwick.
Chris is part of the First Minister’s International Council of Education Advisers and is Past President of the International Congress of School Effectiveness and Improvement, a global community of scholars seeking to use research and evidence to enhance educational quality and equity. He leads several international research collaborations and advises a range of governments on issues of educational policy.
Chris has led large and diverse programmes of research supported by funding Councils, Charities and Government. He sits on the Editorial Boards of several internationally leading peer-reviewed journals and the former Editor of School Leadership and Management (2010-16). Chris has published 12 books and over 120 peer-reviewed articles and chapters.
