Originally from the USA, Professor Benedict Leimkuhler has resided in the UK since joining the University of Leicester in 2000. In 2006 he was appointed Chair of Applied Mathematics at the University of Edinburgh. He is interested in the design of numerical methods and algorithms for the simulation of evolving systems, particularly those describing physical processes.
