Professor Arend Bayer
Professor of Algebraic Geometry, School of Mathematics, University of Edinburgh
Professor Arend Bayer works in algebraic geometry, the area of mathematics studying shapes and configurations arising from polynomial equations. In his work, he established new algebraic concepts inspired by string theory in particle physics as standard tools to study and answer fundamental geometric questions. Since moving to the University in Edinburgh in 2012, he has mentored almost 20 graduate students and post-docs.
