Professor Annette Ferguson
Professor, University of Edinburgh
Professor Annette Ferguson is an observational astrophysicist who specialises in near Universe studies of galaxy formation and evolution. She has played a prominent role in a number of pioneering studies of galaxy outskirts, demonstrating that these regions contain crucial information about the way in which stars and galaxies form. Her research routinely uses some of the world’s largest telescopes, as well as the Hubble Space Telescope. Originally from Scotland, Annette spent many years abroad before returning to Scotland in 2005 to assume a lectureship at the University of Edinburgh.
