Professor of Comparative Literature, Utrecht, University Of Utrecht
Ann Rigney, professor of Comparative Literature, Utrecht University, is an Irish/Dutch literary scholar. A specialist of cultural memory studies, she examines the ways in which collective narratives and transnational identities are produced and contested across different media and commemorative practices. Within this broader framework she has had a particular interest in Walter Scott and Robert Burns as carriers and makers of collective memory. Her many publications include “The Afterlives of Walter Scott: Memory on the Move” (OUP, 2012) and “Remembering Hope: the Cultural Afterlife of Protest” (in progress, for OUP).
