Professor Andrew Cairns
Professor of Actuarial Mathematics, Heriot-Watt University
Alongside his role as Professor of Actuarial Mathematics at Heriot-Watt University, Professor Andrew Cairns became the first Director of the Actuarial Research Centre in 2012, the international research arm of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. He is also a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Royal Statistical Society. His research is centred around long term financial risk modelling and management for life insurers and pension plans with a particular focus on the financial risks associated with ever-increasing lifetimes.
