Professor Alessio Ciulli
Professor of Chemical and Structural Biology and Director of the Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation, University of Dundee
Alessio Ciulli is a chemical structural biologist who studies the structure of proteins and their interactions with other molecules. He exploits this understanding to guide the design of synthetic chemical molecules that alter protein interactions and induce protein degradation. Alessio is very interested in leveraging this fundamental research and explore its utility in two main directions: 1) to develop new tools and reagents to study biology; and 2) to develop molecules that target disease-causing proteins, and thus have potential to lead to new medicines to treat patients. He founded and directs the University of Dundee’s Centre for Targeted Protein Degradation
