Professor Ailsa Hall
Emeritus Professor, University of St Andrews, NERC Sea Mammal Research Unit
My career has focussed on the conservation and management of marine mammals both in the UK and across the world. My research interests have been directed towards factors affecting their health and survival as well as understanding their physiology. WIth a background in causational epidemiology I have investigated the role of multiple stressors on population dynamics and how they interact. Many causes of mortality are human related and as marine mammals are legally protected species in many countries, I have worked at the interface between science and policy, researching and communicating findings to advisors and policy makers.
