Professor Peter Michael Hollingsworth FRSE

Director of Science and Deputy Keeper, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

Professor Pete Hollingsworth is Director of Science and Deputy Keeper at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh. His research focuses on understanding and conserving plant biodiversity. He has played a major role in the ‘International Barcode of Life’ project aiming to build a unified DNA-based index of life on earth. Other research interests include understanding pest and pathogen threats to the natural environment, wildlife forensics, and the conservation of genetic diversity. He is an Honorary Professor of the Kumming Institute of Botany, a Visiting Professor of the Universities of Edinburgh and Johannesburg, and Chair of Bumblebee Conservation Trust.
