Professor Paul Garside FRSE

Professor of Immunobiology, University of Glasgow.

Professor Paul Garside is one of the world’s leading immune biologists with an international reputation for excellence. His long-standing research interest has been to investigate the fundamentals of immune regulation and apply the findings to infectious and autoimmune scenarios. Most recently this has involved applying advanced imaging techniques to analyse the dynamics of the development of immune responses in real time in vivo in a variety of disease models. After earning his PhD from the University of Nottingham Paul joined the faculty at the University of Glasgow in 1989. He remained there until 2006 when he took up the role of Director of the Centre for Biophotonics at the University of Strathclyde. In 2009 Paul returned to Glasgow as Professor of Immunobiology.
