Professor Norman Lewis is a biochemist with research interests in plant biochemistry, particularly, plant phenols (lignins, lignans allyl/propenyl phenols) and plant cell walls. He studied for his BSc at the University of Strathclyde and reminded there to undertake a research position. Norman then relocated to the University of British Columbia to study for his PhD. This was followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Cambridge and various positions at the Institute of Canada and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. In 1990 Norman was appointed Professor at Washington State University and has remained there since.
