Professor Neil John Bulleid FRSE

SULSA Professor of Cell Biology, University of Glasgow.

Professor Neil Bulleid’s main research interest is how proteins mature within the endoplasmic reticulum of mammalian cells. In particular, he studies the processes of protein folding, disulphide bond formation and glycosylation. Neil graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1985 with a PhD in Biochemistry and went on to postdoctoral roles at the universities of Kent and Dallas, USA. He joined the faculty of the University of Manchester in 1990, remaining there until 2009 when he was appointed Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Glasgow.
