Alison Watt is regarded as one of the leading painters working in the UK today. While still a student at the Glasgow School of Art, she won the 1987 John Player Portrait Award and was commissioned to paint a portrait of the Queen Mother. Alison has held major solo exhibitions at Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Kelvingove Art Gallery & Museum, Fruitmarket Gallery, Aberdeen Art Gallery & Museum, Dulwich Picture Gallery and Perth Museum & Art Gallery. In 2006, she undertook a prestigious residency as Associate Artist at The National Gallery in London which culminated in a landmark solo exhibition at the National Gallery in 2008. Alison was made an OBE in the 2008 New Year Honours for services to Art.
