The RSE Fellowship comprises around 1,800 leading experts in the sciences, arts, business, professions and the third and public sectors, with links to Scotland. This range of expertise within the Fellowship places us in a unique position to provide an informed, interdisciplinary response to issues facing Scotland and internationally.

Our Fellows from academia, business and public service are among the most distinguished in their fields. We engage and connect nationally and internationally to share knowledge and tackle the most pressing challenges of the modern world.

Mr Jim Fairbairn
CEO, Megger Group
James Fairbairn became CEO of Megger in November 2017 after 6 years as Executive Director of Howden Group. Previously, James has worked for Clyde Blowers and the Wood Group in senior leadership roles. He graduated with a BEng, Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 1992 and is a Chartered Engineer. In the 2007 Birthday Honours, James received an OBE for services to business and disadvantaged people in Glasgow. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2013 and is a Visiting Professor at City, University of London.
