Alan Simpson is Lord-Lieutenant Stirling and Falkirk and Chair of Macrobert Arts Centre in Stirling. Previously he was Chair of Court at the University of Stirling and Chair of the National Youth Orchestras of Scotland. In his professional life, he was a civil engineer with experience of a wide range of projects including roads, bridges, flooding, sustainable urban drainage, water treatment, sewage treatment and carbon capture and storage. He served as Chairman of the Institution of Civil Engineers, Scotland.
