Professor Luke Alexander Bisby FRSE

Professor of Fire and Structures, University of Edinburgh.

Professor Luke Bisby chairs Scotland’s National Telford Institute, as well as the Infrastructure and Environment Strategic Leadership Theme Group for the Scottish Research Partnership in Engineering. Originally educated as a structural engineer, his professional interests and expertise now lie within the field of fire safety engineering. His particular emphasis is on the thermal and mechanical response of materials to severe heating; for example, concrete, steel, aluminium, polymers and polymer composites, and engineered timber; and he advises internationally on these topics. His is currently appointed as an instructed expert witness to the Grenfell Tower Inquiry.
