Lord Robert Smith of Kelvin

Lord Smith is one of the UK’s most distinguished businessman. He is currently Chancellor of the University of Strathclyde and Chairman of Alliance Trust, IMI plc, British Business Bank and Forth Ports Ltd. In 2014, Robert was appointed as Chair of the Smith Commission to oversee the process of taking forward more powers for the Scottish Parliament, and Chaired the organising committee for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. Previous roles include Chairman and CEO of Morgan Grenfell Private Equity and CEO of Morgan Grenfell Asset Management. He was also Chairman of the Trustees of the National Museums of Scotland, a Governor of the BBC and a Member of the British Council. Robert is a Chartered Accountant and a Past President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
